Under 25s

When you are under 25 looking after your sexual health is much more important for several reasons.

You are VERY fertile! (Peak fertility age 15-35).

You have a higher risk of STDs. ( most Chlamydia is seen in 15-24 year olds).

You may be embarking on a first sexual relationship, so it is really important to be prepared!

Consent to medical treatment

Like adults, young people (aged 16 or 17) are presumed to be able to decide on their own medical treatment.

Children under the age of 16 can consent to their own treatment if they're believed to have enough understanding to fully appreciate what's involved in their treatment. This is known as being "Gillick competent".
